Remember me for a week.

Dear Parents,

I should like to thank you for the trust and support you have shown during the tough times of change we went through together this year. Without your support, it wouldn’t have been possible to accomplish what we have done.

Now that academic year '08-'09 has come to an end, I would like to share with you the school’s plans for '09-'10.

While I will maintain my position as Executive Director of PPS, Dubai, and while School Development Consultants, Beirut, continues its management of the school for the coming five years, the following appointments have been made within the school’ s organizational chart:

The new Principal, Mrs. Rosy Kareh Husni, will assume her responsibilities at school as of August 16, 2009. Mrs. Husni has been with SDC since 1986. In all she has 25 years of experience in education as teacher, coordinator, director, and deputy principal. She started her career with College Louize Wegman in 1984 and eventually coordinated the French program of the Middle School. With SDC, she worked as a Chief Consultant for French in all SDC schools and as consultant for language education at ADMA International School, City International School-Beirut, Universal School of Lebanon-Koura, and Valley International School. She also assumed the position of Deputy Principal and Director of Middle and Secondary at ADMA International School from September 2000 till September 2007. In September 2007, she assumed the same position at the Lebanese School in Doha, Qatar up to date.

Mrs. Wesam Sahawneh joined the school as Director of Administration as of January ’08. Mrs. Sahawneh is a civil engineer with 14 years of experience in project management and administrative supervision.

This team will be leading the development of your children’s school to hopefully become one of the best hubs of learning in the U.A.E.

School Timings for '09-'10

School timing for next year in KG I and KG II will be more appropriate for this sensitive age group. The day will start as usual at 7:45 a.m. but will end earlier than this year – at 12:45. While we prefer that our KG I and KG II children go back home at this time either with their parents or with the separate busing service provided to them by the school, we will still provide a daycare service for children whose parents opt not to take them home at 12:45. This service will involve the children in active play supervised by our Infant educators until 2:30 p.m. The cost for this service will be Dhs. 200 per month.

Our Infant learners in KG I and KG II will also benefit from a new snack service which will be offered in classes at 9:30 a.m. every morning every day of the year. This healthy snack will include a sandwich and a healthy drink (milk or fruit juice). The cost for this daily snack will be Dhs. 100 per month.

School timing for other classes (Grades 1-12)

The day will start as usual at 7:45 a.m. with 2 half-hour long breaks. It ends at 2:35 p.m. Assembly for Grades 2 to 5 will be held at 7:30 on Tuesdays and Thursdays; assembly for Grades 6 to 12 will be held at 7:30 a.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays.

I do look forward to seeing you all at school in September and wish you an enjoyable summer vacation.

Sincerely,

Shukri Husni
Executive Director
