Philadelphia Private School follows the American Curriculum. Learners graduating from PPS can join any reputable university of their choice based on their school performance and achievement on world-recognized Standardized Tests (SAT I and TOEFL IBT), which the school thoroughly prepares its learners to, as early as KG I.
The school has been accredited by Advanc-ed (Worldwide organisation unifying a number of key agencies on school accreditation and improvement, formerly CITA).This ensures global recognition of quality, service and benefits PPS provides to its learners.

Our school is divided into four broad divisions:

INFANT DIVISION

PPS Dubai

The Infant program is a three-year cycle (KG I, KG II & Grade 1) where English is the medium of instruction while Arabic and French are taught as an integral part of the program. The Infant School curriculum includes Language Arts (English, French and Arabic), Mathematics, Computer, Creative Arts, Music, Islamic Studies, Social Studies, and Physical Education. Each Infant classroom is equipped with computer that enhance learning independence and technology integration from the early years. Indoor and outdoor play area used to engage learners in physical activities that develop their gross motor skills.

ELEMENTARY SCHOOL DIVISION

PPS Dubai

The Elementary School Division covers grades two through five. The medium of instruction is English, although Arabic and French are mandatory for all learners. An AFL (Arabic as a Foreign Language) program is available to learners who qualify for exemption from the regular programs. Math, Science, Computer, Social Studies, Character Education, Art, Music and Physical Education, in addition to Islamic Studies (where appropriate) and Technology (where appropriate), essential components of the Elementary and Middle School program, are taught by specialist professionals and our learners needing learning support are helped by qualified, experienced teachers. All school classrooms are equipped with two computers in addition to the computer lab which has computer terminals loaded with a variety of educational software programs.

Our learners needing support will be helped by qualified, experienced teachers for a supplement fee.

MIDDLE SCHOOL DIVISION

PPS Dubai

The Middle School program covers grades six to nine. The medium of instruction is English, although Arabic and French is mandatory for all learners. An AFL (Arabic as a Foreign Language) program is available to learners who qualify for exemption from the regular programs. Math, Science, Computer, Social Studies in the American Curriculum, Character Education, Performing Arts, Physical Education, Islamic Studies or Social and Cultural Education are essential components fo the Middle School program and are taught by specialist professionals. All school classrooms are equipped with computers in addition to the computer lab which has computer terminals loaded with a variety of educational software programs.

Our learners needing support will be helped by qualified, experienced teachers for a supplement fee.

HIGH SCHOOL DIVISION

PPS Dubai

The High School Division covers grades 10, 11 & 12. The medium of instruction is English, although Arabic is mandatory for all learners. An AFL (Arabic as a Foreign Language) program is available to learners who qualify for exemption from the regular programs. For the Science track, Math, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Computer, Character Education, Performing Arts, French, and Physical Education, in addition to Islamic Studies (where appropriate), are taught. For the Arts track, Math, Biology, Psychology, Business, Computer, Character Education, Performing Arts, French and Physical Education, in addition to Islamic Studies (where appropriate), are taught. All subjects are given by specialist professionals. All school classrooms are equipped with computers in addition to the computer lab which has computer terminals loaded with a variety of educational software programs.

Our learners needing support will be helped by qualified, experienced teachers for a supplement fee.

Learners in Grade 10, 11, & 12 receive an extensive career guidance through a number of essential steps such as identifying learners' areas of interest and prospects by means of questionnaires and interviews, providing basic data on college/university opportunities in the Middle East and assisting in search for information globally, arranging presentations by university representatives and by guest speakers from different fields of work, organizing visits to different work places and university campuses.

ACADEMIC YEAR BREAKDOWN

Starting academic year 2010-2011, we will be applying the two (2) semesters system in order to make a better use of our teaching days. The first one will start on September 13th 2010, and end on February 3rd 2011. The second will start on February 6th 2011, and end on June 20th 2011.

FACULTY AND STAFF

PPS employs professional teachers and staff members who have been chosen for their creativity, high caliber, and willingness to learn and develop. They are dedicated individuals who believe and are trained in the learner-centered system of education. Although the majority of our academic and non-academic staff is Lebanese, PPS hosts a number of Arab and Western nationalities.

TEXTBOOKS

PPS learners use one of the leading American textbooks in all subjects except Arabic and Islamic Studies (where appropriate). Learners' textbooks, practice books, copy books and agendas are supplied by the school at the beginning of the year. Textbooks must be returned to school in good accepted condition by the end of year exams.

HOMEWORK

Learning consists of many aspects including comprehension and retention. Homework is an important tool to help in the retention of information and to build good study habits. It is imperative that learners spend adequate time at home doing homework in order to reinforce skills and concepts they have learned at school.

CLUBS/ACTIVITIES

  • Clubs / Activities are held two days a week. (Monday & Wednesday)
  • The clubs are the following: Sports (Volleyball, Basketball, Football Academy and Karate), Computer, Creative Art, Folk Dance, and Ballet.
  • For each term, learners may choose to join one or two clubs.
  • Activation of the clubs depends on learners' enrollment.

LEARNERS' DRESS CODE

Learners are required to wear the School Uniform. Parents may purchase the different items before the beginning of the new academic year.
